SOUL MUSIC VOL. 1 is the amazing debut album by Californian newcomers JEFF HERSHEY & THE HEARTBEATS. These fine musicians have already taken over the USA rapidly with their powerful, groovy sound and their outstanding live performance, and are more than ready to take over the rest of the world now. The album was previously released as a CD on the American label Siren Records in a limited quantity and sold out very fast, so that Soundflat Records decided not to withhold this treasure from you any longer and therefore release it again; this time on vinyl also.This Blue Eyed Soul-Beat masterpiece was recorded with vintage equipment only onto analog tape (- engineered and mixed by Pete Curry of the STRAITJACKETS -) and it consists of ten fantastic Soul/R&B-gems, one catchier than the other. The versatility of the band is represented perfectly: ,Dont come around" is an overwhelmingly cool song, that matches a danceable beat with a groovy saxophone; while ,Push on Through" is more of a groovy feel good anthem, ,Honesty Road" is a wonderful and mellow ballad.
