Nitropollo is a band formed in 2016 by seasoned musicians in the Madrid hardcore punk scene in bands like Wipe Out Skaters, Zinc or Espamodicos, among others. Varonas is a new band from Madrid made up of seasoned musicians in other groups such as Mallory Knox, Thee Girlfriends, Suckin' Dicks or Vigilante Gitano, who have been kicking around the Madrid stages for some time, having played with bands like Generador, Capitán Entresijos, MalaBrava or The Rezillos ( band with which they have many points in common). The Roxies are a band from Berlin, their singer Matthew is originally from Yorkshire, England. He met the rest of the band through a flyer at a Kreuzberg dive bar in 2018. Since then they've been writing songs and putting their different musical backgrounds together, playing loud from inside an ex-Launderette in one of Berlin's backyards. Musically drawing influences from ’77 Punk Rock, Garage, Post Punk, Power Pop, ... The Roxies are all about spreading the love and playing energetic fun shows. 2019 they self-released their debut single "The Roxies Are Coming". After a mini-tour in Northern England in 2020 they recorded their first full-length album "Don't Wanna Dance Because I'm Told To". The title quotes the first line of the opening song of the record. The album has a real feel of a band putting down everything that they have: Songs range from a Punk Rock belter to a Pop grower to a New Wave groover. Lyrics that focus on contemporary life, personal demons, social and political problems, whilst also getting ready for a party – what more do you need for a jam-packed introduction of a band? The record cover shows one of The Roxies' flyers sticking on a scruffy chewing gum machine. With the inner sleeve featuring drawings and all the song lyrics hand-typed, you get a piece of DIY art that the band loves to create.

Sheltered behind vocal melodies inspired by the Surf sound of the 60s and hypervitaminated PunkPop rhythms, Marrajos arrive from the shores of Cabo de Gata, a Power trio of dangerous sharks who have no other intention than to represent on stage the living image of summer. Our music draws from the influence of the surf music of the Beach Boys or Dick Dale in terms of vocal melodies, but getting closer in terms of execution to groups like our beloved Los Summers, Airbag, F.A.N.T.A. or The Queers. The idea is to mix beautiful vocal atmospheres with the punk rhythms of the Ramones and thus create a never-ending summer party. We have the immeasurable joy of presenting our first LP, Primera Ola, produced in Chapina studios by maestro Juan Luís Escamilla (Compro Oro) and with the invaluable collaboration both in the recording and in some songs by Juantxo and Francis (Los Summers). As a final culmination, our beloved label, Family Spree Recordings, the most punk rock label on the coast, releases us the album. I hope you enjoy it at least half as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to life.

Stupid Fuckin People are: Fosy, the seed of the project, drummer for Señor No and guitarist for La Banda Trapera del Río, who is in charge of the voices and one of the guitars; the other is wielded by Olatz Alberdi, from Las Furias, who also sings, beyond the choirs, in “Outsider;” Unai Gorraiz “Fumai,” bassist in Señor No and 25th Coming Fire, former Astrozombies and, occasionally, one more in the Aterkings, is also in charge of the bass here; and, finally, on drums, Jimmy Díaz, who, years ago, did the same for La Perrera, a quarry with a Gipuzkoan rock and roll pedigree. Even with all that, they are a new band that was born in full confinement, in the middle of some phase or any "new normality" and that their presentation LP, which has attracted attention because, on the one hand, it brings together those credentials in those that you want to trust and, on the other, because, like Kekaula in that song, Stupid Fuckin People sound like a runaway horse that doesn't look back even though the rider has fallen, like a train that derails because it's up to the pantograph to go straight through the pathways. Trepanning guitars, a forceful rhythmic base, and a lot of rage in the vocal parts, including the choirs, which are used with meaning. All concentrated in 10 songs recorded at Pookah Sound Studio by Mikel Biffs. The 10 together denote an immediate urgency, revealing when they were written and in what mood. With this presentation in society, those who like to roam the wide field that goes from the country of American hardcore to that of Scandinavian punkrock will have long teeth. Without going any further, if you are one of those who pray for the Muletrain to return, with these you will mitigate the pain of waiting.

In 1996, Bonzos released their first album, 341 Broome St., recorded in NY and produced by Andy Shernoff. A burst of 12 Ramonian punk songs lasting barely half an hour, full of immediate hits and that took on a special importance when the band defended them on stage. A masterpiece of national punk rock, due to the addiction of its melodies, its forceful punch and the freshness that it distilled from the first to the last theme. In 2021 this album turned 25 years old, and Juancar Parlange, Bonzos's alma mater, wanted to celebrate it doubly: firstly, with a reissue on vinyl from 341 Broome St (of the original vinyl run made by Roto Records, barely 5 copies are known since, due to some strange maneuver yet to be unraveled, the whereabouts of the rest of the discs are unknown). And as a climax, and recovering the youthful and unrestrained spirit of that their 1st album, they entered the studio of Martín Cápsula (Silver Recordings) to record the 18 songs that make up this latest production "Songs about cars, girls & broken hearts", returning to the line-up of 3 members (guitar, bass, drums), backed by two mythical figures from the Bilbao scene (Jorge Murillo on bass and Ricky Ibáñez on drums), published on digital platforms in mid-2021 and which, now finally , you have available on vinyl, in the format in which a jewel like this should last. Juancar Parlange describes the vital moment in which he found himself when he decided to undertake this project: "It was the moment to return home musically", in reference to recovering the essence of that first album and doing it in the places of his youth, in the Getxo of its musical origins, closing the circle that was opened with 341 Broome St, to prepare for the next musical adventures that its restless spirit will undoubtedly already be giving birth to. But for now, it's time to enjoy this "Songs about cars, girls & broken hearts" and defend it live. And it gives to do it a lot and very well.

Cazacús come from Galicia. Something not very difficult to guess because they sing in Galician. They were born in 2019, a bad year to do it, because when they were already beginning to have songs and shoot, the pandemic confined them to their homes. Band influenced by the classics of British punk, Basque radical rock (I'm sure you'll often hear echoes of La Polla in some of their songs) and the Galician scene of the 90s/2000s, and they are children of the TVG program Xabarin, which Despite being children's content, it gave space to Siniestro Total, Antón Reixa, Killer Barbie, Diplomáticos de Montealto,... and a host of additional stimulating bands. The band is linked to Galician social centers and especially to the O Fusalho Social Center in A Guarda and is strongly involved in social movements, as the lyrics of their songs show. They come from seafaring families and that's where the name of the band comes from. The Cazacú is a dogfish (small shark), whose name would translate as "ass chaser" in Spanish. The most knowledgeable in the British 77 punk scene, surely you know The Wasps, a band formed in 1976 in East London, with the original singer and songwriter Jesse Lynn-Dean. They lived through the emergence of the punk rock movement in the UK, and shared the scene with The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Buzzcocks, UK Subs, Sham 69, and many others... During the period 76-77, they frequently performed in the most paradigmatic halls of the movement in London and the rest of the United Kingdom, such as The Roxy, The Vortex, The Bridge House, The Marquee, Music Machine,..., and they performed live twice on Radio 1's John Peel show. His ephemeral record production is reduced to 2 singles in the studio and another shared live with Mean Street. Both "Teenage treats" (one of Peel's favorites) and "Rubber Cars" are considered classics of the time, the latter (its first reference) being RCA's best-selling single in the week of its release, although little company interest and internal disputes, led to the band's premature dissolution. In 2019, jumping 40 years in time, The Wasps appeared again at the "Punkirola" punk festival at the Black Velvet in Torremolinos, Malaga. The chemistry was just right and they returned to action with their original leader, Jesse Lynn-Dean, who is joined by guitarist Martin Hope (formerly of the British punk band The Accused), guitarist Perico, Quico (of Los punk from Malaga No Picky) and Roly Quesnel on drums (former leader of the British punk band based in Spain, The Reinfected). All the members of the band currently reside in Malaga and have just recorded at Hollers Analog Studio, by Máximo Ruiz Bandera, their new LP "Punk prayer", published on digital platforms on 12/9/2021, and which Family Spree now presents on vinyl format.

Two years after their already out-of-print first LP, The Budweisers are back with a new album on their usual labels, Family Spree Recordings and Monster Zero Records. An album that takes us back to the 90's, where maybe we shouldn't have come from, that gets even closer to some RAMONES too hard to die, that gives off a Look Out sound, but in which it is also appreciated, as it could not be to be otherwise, that they are in love with the 60's Girls Groups and Jackson Browne or Rick Springfield. “Punk” on some occasions, more “Power” on others, but always with the melody complement “Pop” without which none of this would make sense. Or at least that's how they understand it. Recorded at the Mohwa studios in Oviedo under the command of the almighty Angel Kaplan (The Cynics, Bubblegum, Feedbacks,...) and superbly mixed and mastered by Coky Ordoñez (Shock Treatment, Depressing Claim,...) at the Rockaway Studios in Castellón, the The album contains 13 short, direct songs, without too much paraphernalia or presumption, but enormously addictive, which will make you enjoy like when we were teenagers. An album that sounds fresh, although it could have been recorded 30 years ago. In a part of our brain, everything remains the same. And may it continue for a long time.

The Daltonics, these pubrock sufferers and the natural setting in which this musical style develops, bars, are back with their third long album, entitled "3". Beer-soaked sounds, themes that don't even take themselves seriously, and the same old passion for Dr. Feelgood, The Pirates, The Bishops, covering Johnny Kidd & the Pirates and dialing 1, 2, 5 via The Fuzztones fill the grooves of this album. Surely the best antidote to stupidity is not to take yourself seriously, and the Daltonics make that clear from the first song, as they blow smoke from their instruments and shake you so you won't stop shaking and doing it with a smile. in the mouth. We are going to spark this "3" and cross our fingers to have them up on stage soon.

Last April, the Crust Punk and Sludge Metal band HONGO brought us a live work entitled Live To Ruin. A title, and a cover in clear homage to The Ramones. A live album lasting just over 40 minutes, where David, Ernesto, Villakampa and Iván gut seven cuts full of distortion and guttural sounds. Underground extreme metal, with tons of attitude and rage.

LOS SUMMERS return with their best collection of songs with They made an error, a noisy and urgent album, in which they play all their usual styles, this time being even more inspired. In the twelve cuts of the album, the Almerian artists deliver first-class material, going from the rambunctious pills that they do like nobody else, to mid-tempos with dramatic overtones, through yeyés dances and jumping and absolutely contagious melodic developments. The opening to new nuances is striking, such as easy listening flashes in the harmonies and instrumental bridges, the introduction of wind instruments at specific moments or, at the other extreme, the inclusion of a garage theme such as "La Bomba" or the summer anthem " Our summer”, with a hardcore tempo, sounding like a steamroller. They also recover the healthy custom of including a Christmas song at the end of the album, just as they did on their debut album a few years ago. In his texts, the usual, but like never before…. Luminous and existentialist songs that speak of farewells, longing, summers of love, closing doors, opening windows, sea breeze…. with simple structures, although rich in intention and depth... perhaps, if possible, being especially clever when it comes to finding the devastating nuance. The new error by LOS SUMMERS also features outstanding collaborations at especially brilliant moments on the album, such as Reverend Vinny, from Los Malinches and Galleta Piluda, al Farfisa, the quintessential Spanish crooner, Freddie Dilevi, and his amazing voice, or Beto F.A.N.T.A., who is the author of one of the songs on the album. We cannot forget the beautiful design of Adrián Bago, with amazing comics and illustrations, which stand out even more against the red color of the vinyl that Clifford Records has marked.

This masterpiece show us the classic Basque band at his best, proving the speed and rage of their live performances. Awesome quality from the sleeve to the content... 16 tracks of ultra rare, like truly rare tracks. Just check out that track listing and although some titles will be familiar, these are different versions and on vinyl for the 1st time (as far as we know)... the sound is tip top. A truly wonderful release from the folks behind the Ill Eagle releases a couple of years back and it looks like they have managed to get out of Russia and set up elsewhere. As with their previous releases a lot of thought has obviously gone into this and they-ve come up with the goods again!

Preparing this review about The Capaces' eighth album, I went over the one I had written about their previous work. In Zoetrope's review, he commented that the Barcelonans had closed an impeccable trilogy, but at the same time he was sure that they would overcome it sooner rather than later. What I had no idea is that this was going to become a reality in such a resounding way.

Fifteen renowned present-day bands from the Basque Country pay homage to THE DAMNED, in project promoted by Pookah Sound studio (Bilbao), where all tracks were recorded.
Everybody knows THE DAMNED is a seminal British punk band from 1977. On October 1976, the band released what is considered the first punk single, also released the first punk album and was the first British punk band to tour the US. In discrepancy with the mediatic chaos of the Pistols and the militant commitment of the Clash, from the start, The Damned was more concerned in making the kids bounce nonstop at the gigs. In addition, and despite being dedicated punk rockers, they have always been somehow embedded in the tradition of rock ’n’ roll. Since the beginning, they acknowledged their devotion to the Detroit rock of the late '60s and early '70s, sought the services of a member of Pink Floyd as a producer, and proclaimed their fervour for the Nuggets' garage punk sounds.
It is no wonder that THE DAMNED's influence crosses the barriers of time and musical styles. Traditional and evolved punk rockers, garage fans, post-punkers, HC fans, psychedelics, metalheads... find a place of shelter and stimulus in the music of Londoners.
As outcome of that vital impulse, the LP FAN CLUB, TRIBUTE TO THE DAMMED, A BASQUE COUNTRY COMPILATION is releasedin glorious vinyl in this post-pandemic 2022. Fifteen Basque bands threw themselves headlong into the project without thinking twice. Each of them in a specific frenzy outburst, displaying total systemic enthusiasm, but all with a driving conviction. The majority of the songs chosen by the bands/fans to be revisited are from the classic period that goes from "New Rose” (1976) to the album "Phantasmagoria" (1985), although we can also find three celebrations from the decade of the 90s and the first decade of the new millennium.

Double live album recorded at Kafe Antzokia at the Bilbo band's tenth anniversary concert. More than twenty songs that cover their entire discography and in it they even recovered some songs that were no longer common in their last concerts. With the collaboration of Rioja and Dieguillo from Quemando Ruedas, Giussepe from Kaos Urbano, Txiki from Gatillazo/La Polla Records and Titus from Radikal Hardcore.

If you still don't know who they are, you still don't know the dilemma. Their musical proposal is so aggressive, so forceful, so overwhelming that there are only two options: either you are with them and you will convert to their law or you will be on the sidelines and, therefore, you will run the risk of being taken ahead of them on their journey. There are no mediocrities, no concession to yes but no, no half measures, no cold mingas. They give their all in every cut, in every verse, in every riff and demand correspondence from those who listen and from those who see them under a stage. It is living rock and roll in its excess, in its attitude and in its infection. This is rock and roll for sons of bitches and they are not willing to take prisoners. Now released in vinyl format.

Musicians wanting to do different things and originated in the late 70s, cemented the origins of malacitano punk, among punk bands & "new wave" in this spirit we can mention Adrenalina or Sociedad Anonima, seminal bands projects pop rock 80 as Camara and Danza Invisible groups. In the 80, appeared bands like Deskarriados (with another members formed before Fredy Nurky y Komando Suicida), Excomunion, Mucho Morro, DDT, Desamparados En Guirilandia, Capitan Kavernikola, led by Ramone would end up doing covers and intervening as a musician collaborator in projects Extremoduro in the 90s, from the end of the 2000s, Ramone reappears with a new project called Superlumpen. The first volume is titled “The Incredibles Stories About As The Punks Came From Outer X-pain, Iberian Rock Cities, Collector's Compilation Vol I” (split album limited edition 1000 copies). Here's Tales From The Crypt, the vinyl bootleg of The Mummies- recording sessions with Mike Mariconda which were meant to make up the band's debut LP (to be released on Crypt). The story is that The Mummies had wanted Billy Childish to produce but when that proved impossible, for unknown reasons, label boss Tim Warren sent his friend, Mariconda (ex of The Raunch Hands). This didn't go down well with the band and they weren't happy with the results. Neither, it seems, was Tim Warren, as he shelved the tapes.

After the demise of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Lydia Lunch launched her solo career with Queen Of Siam, arguably her greatest LP. In true No Wave style, the album is a mishmash of irritants, but her palette is far broader here, lurching from slow dirges, excessive feminist exhortations, and raucous personal purges to a touch of disco and lounge music exoticism, as conjured by Voidoids/Lou Reed guitarist Robert Quine, Contortions bassist Jack Ruby, and John Cale's drummer, Douglas Browne. Spirited, surprisingly broad and defiantly dissonant, Queen Of Siam's dense layers were designed to provoke and inflame< listen closely to fully decode.
