Another album of tasty, driving punk rock from these Swedes. At times sounding like the Damned with a bit more “street” added, they dish up some catchy tunes with “old school” tinges and none of the mothballs. Like last time, OG punker pals Glen Matlock and Brian James provide the occasional guitar part, adding a bit of flair to the fist-pumpin’ anthems presented here.

Nitropollo is a band formed in 2016 by seasoned musicians in the Madrid hardcore punk scene in bands like Wipe Out Skaters, Zinc or Espamodicos, among others. Warsaw Pakt practiced a revolutionary formula based on smart and tough street lyrics interpreted with speed and attitude, faced with overloaded Chuck Berry guitars, a modus operandi very similar to the MC5 of the Back in the USA era, but with a tone more in keeping with the pubs and squats of his London borough, Ladbroke Grove. Their sound exudes aromas of high octane British R&B but with a patina of punk rock, inherited from their past as The Rockets. 14 anthems from the vaults of Aussie Skinhead gangs 1972-1979.Sharpies were the terror-teen cast of a Richard Allen novel that never was. Although largely synonymous with the early-to-mid 1970s, reports of their violent clashes with rival gangs of Mods are documented as early as 1966. Bored, working-class, suburban kids, their teenage rampage began in Melbourne, Australia, but soon there were Sharpie gangs forming in Sydney, Perth and beyond. For a while they were the untouchables, ruling dances, discos and public transport with their fists. Sharpies were fiercely territorial and divided into different chapters according to location. They would often wage aggressive wars within their tightly delineated sub-gangs, although Mods always remained their archenemies. Sharpie boys and girls wore similar uniforms: a slim-fitting, ribbed and collared cardigan called a Conny, T-shirts, tight jeans (Lee or Levis) and big platform shoes. Hair was worn short or shaved with long wisps at the back, influenced by the British ska, mod and skinhead subcultures. Sharpie girls had their hair slightly longer and often with colored streaks - Bowie-red was their color of choice. Boys often bleached their hair. Tattoos were popular, although many were homemade and poorly executed. Their diet was anthemic glam-rock, kung-fu movies and Kubricks A Clockwork Orange. As the 1970s drew to a close, and new styles like punk and disco began to emerge, Sharpies started to fade. By 1979 they were all but gone. Today they are recognized as an important part of Australian youth culture and social history. This compilation features rare tracks and 'cult' anthems that were the soundtrack to the rise of this Australian answer to the skinhead subculture: with the likes of the Hush, Fat Daddy, Supernaut, Skyhooks, John Paul Young... it can't be missing in any 'Killed By Death' type collection!

The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival (Sitges Festival for short) publishes this year as an official book a work by our journalist (and nevertheless friend) Pacus González Centeno, entitled "Three pieces for the murderer: Jazz, rock and electronics in crime and horror cinema ", in which he analyzes chronologically, decade by decade, the relationship between popular music styles and the main genre film styles of the 2nd half of the 20th century. Pacus had the brilliant (and crazy) idea of complementing the edition of the book with a disc of versions of some of the songs shelled in the book performed by bands from our current underground scene, and he raised the proposal to Family Spree Recordings, with the aim to collaborate in the selection of the songs, enrollment of the bands and coordination of all the actions necessary for the project to see the light. The idea was hatched in the form of a double LP and with the title "Kong'n'roll - 26 rock'n'roll bands tribute to the Sitges Horror Film Festival" and has the participation of 26 bands performing masterfully songs included in some of the films that formed the soundtrack of any of the selected films. And its edition will take place under the new label "Sawyer Family Party", to inaugurate a saga of future online projects different from that of its parent label.

Fifteen renowned present-day bands from the Basque Country pay homage to THE DAMNED, in project promoted by Pookah Sound studio (Bilbao), where all tracks were recorded.
Everybody knows THE DAMNED is a seminal British punk band from 1977. On October 1976, the band released what is considered the first punk single, also released the first punk album and was the first British punk band to tour the US. In discrepancy with the mediatic chaos of the Pistols and the militant commitment of the Clash, from the start, The Damned was more concerned in making the kids bounce nonstop at the gigs. In addition, and despite being dedicated punk rockers, they have always been somehow embedded in the tradition of rock ’n’ roll. Since the beginning, they acknowledged their devotion to the Detroit rock of the late '60s and early '70s, sought the services of a member of Pink Floyd as a producer, and proclaimed their fervour for the Nuggets' garage punk sounds.
It is no wonder that THE DAMNED's influence crosses the barriers of time and musical styles. Traditional and evolved punk rockers, garage fans, post-punkers, HC fans, psychedelics, metalheads... find a place of shelter and stimulus in the music of Londoners.
As outcome of that vital impulse, the LP FAN CLUB, TRIBUTE TO THE DAMMED, A BASQUE COUNTRY COMPILATION is releasedin glorious vinyl in this post-pandemic 2022. Fifteen Basque bands threw themselves headlong into the project without thinking twice. Each of them in a specific frenzy outburst, displaying total systemic enthusiasm, but all with a driving conviction. The majority of the songs chosen by the bands/fans to be revisited are from the classic period that goes from "New Rose” (1976) to the album "Phantasmagoria" (1985), although we can also find three celebrations from the decade of the 90s and the first decade of the new millennium.
