The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival (Sitges Festival for short) publishes this year as an official book a work by our journalist (and nevertheless friend) Pacus González Centeno, entitled "Three pieces for the murderer: Jazz, rock and electronics in crime and horror cinema ", in which he analyzes chronologically, decade by decade, the relationship between popular music styles and the main genre film styles of the 2nd half of the 20th century. Pacus had the brilliant (and crazy) idea of complementing the edition of the book with a disc of versions of some of the songs shelled in the book performed by bands from our current underground scene, and he raised the proposal to Family Spree Recordings, with the aim to collaborate in the selection of the songs, enrollment of the bands and coordination of all the actions necessary for the project to see the light. The idea was hatched in the form of a double LP and with the title "Kong'n'roll - 26 rock'n'roll bands tribute to the Sitges Horror Film Festival" and has the participation of 26 bands performing masterfully songs included in some of the films that formed the soundtrack of any of the selected films. And its edition will take place under the new label "Sawyer Family Party", to inaugurate a saga of future online projects different from that of its parent label.

Atlanta-based veterans Black Lips present their tenth studio album pocalypse Love'. Over the years, their aesthetic has remained grounded fundamentally in garage rock but has variously pivoted to encompass dream pop and country. This bills itself, according to singer Zumi Rosow, as a "weird dance record", traversing goth, punk and retro-futurist pop in one entertaining blowout.

Wow! Five rare tracks from Iggy & The Stooges, taped in London in 1972, get released as a limited edition DOUBLE 7-INCH set. The gatefold sleeve features photos from the actual sessions which took place at the Olympic and Trident studios. Mike Brandon and L.A. Solano have been in many different versions of The Mystery Lights under assorted monikers since their teens. In a heroic jump from the small town of Salinas, California to NYC, the band solidified its lineup to also include Alex Amini, Kevin Harris, and Noah Kohll. The explosive live shows gradually became the stuff of legend, as the quintet won their following one fan at a time in dives from Brooklyn to the Bowery. Preaching the Garage (and Psych) gospel since their inception in 1980, The Fuzztones influenced countless bands worldwide with their enigmatic image, high velocity performance and personalized interpretations. Fact is, even if The Fuzztones had never written a song in their long and illustrious career, they succeeded in accomplishing something much more important, even profound - the resurrected a music style that had only existed from (roughly) 1966 to 1967, and through relentless touring and recording, kept it alive for over 33 years. Initially, the bands mission was to introduce this long-lost music to the world, and did so by covering obscure classics, many by artists who appear on this album."When the Beatles and Stones started out, they covered a lot of Motown and blues stuff, in an attempt to turn people on to it," points out head Fuzztone, Rudi Potrudi, "and thats what we wanted to do as well." The music they chose to cover was so obscure that most of their audience assumed they were originals, and the band could easily have kept it that way. Instead, Rudi joined forces with Germanys Music Maniac label and released the album, 'Songs We Taught The Fuzztones', a collection of original versions of songs made famous by The Fuzztones. And why crazy like this? We can say that the experience of confinement, with all its shadows, also had the occasional light and among these, surely the most remarkable, was the spirit of overcoming the boredom that was imposed among the members of the bands of the label through wasap , where various follies were raised, among which the themes of confinement crystallized (the "We're the worst" or better known as "There is no rock'n'roll I stay at home" and "Por los gambling de rock'n 'roll), with their respective horny videos and which were finally pressed into a single on vinyl...

It might’ve taken 20 years but here it is: the original line-up of the Flaming Sideburns unleashes a brand new album “Silver Flames”. It can be seen as a follow-up to their now legendary debut “Hallelujah Rock’n’Rollah”, which was released two decades prior in 2001.
“Silver Flames” is an album nobody expected to happen. Most certainly it’s out of time and out of place in 2021 but that has never stopped the Flaming Sideburns on their mission. Instead they launch a rock’n’roll assault at full throttle.
It’s all there from straight-ahead rockers (“Silver Flame”, “Searching Like a Hyena”) to deep psychedelia (“Nibiru”, “Reverberation”) and from classic rock (“A Song for Robert”) to pop-tinged choruses (“Perfect Storm”, “Cast out my Demons”). The album is wrapped-up by “Trance-Noché” and its unusual combination of Latin American madness and Arctic hysteria — topped with the lyrics en Español.
”Silver Flames” might be versatile but all of the tracks have a common goal: to make it on the album they had to be good enough to stand on their own as a single release. “Hallelujah Rock’n’rollah” gave us seven singles and “Silver Flames” is well on its way to top that. “Soulshaking”, “Trance-Noché”, “Neverending” and “A Song for Robert” are already out on 7” vinyl and there’s more to come later this year.
The Flaming Sideburns started out in Helsinki in 1995 and soon found themselves touring both sides of the Atlantic. Their early releases were compiled on “It’s Time to Testify” but it was the launch of “Hallelujah Rock’n’Rollah” that put the band on top of the early 2000s garage rock revival. Stateside the record was released under a new moniker “Save Rock’n’Roll”.
“Hallelujah Rock’n’Rollah” kept the band busy touring across the world and sharing the stages with their original inspirers like The Sonics or The Stooges. It also gained them exposure on U.S. television: “Loose My Soul“ was featured on HBO’s “The Wire,” “Flowers” made it to Fox’s “The O.C.” and “Street Survivor” was picked up by Toyota for a tv commercial.
The break-through album also meant the end of the original line-up. Soon after the release, the guitar player Arimatti Jutila moved to the United States and the band was forced to soldier on with various line-ups. After two more albums, “Sky Pilots” and “Keys to the Highway,” and hundreds of shows, the Flaming Sideburns found themselves inactive for the first time in their career in 2016. That was not bound to last long.
In 2018 the five original members — four Finns led by Argentine-born vocalist Eduardo Martinez — joined forces for a string of shows in The UK, Spain and The Nordics. As soon as they hit the road, the new songs started coming out. Soon the band hit the studio and the old gang was completed by Jürgen Hendlmeier who’s been serving as the producer for the Flaming

A new step in a career packed with small but indisputable achievements, in which after an exquisite repertoire full of dreamy white pop n' soul compositions -with accurate outbursts of garage beat that always hit the target- they have become firmly entrenched among the tastes of the most influential gurus of the international sixties scene since they debuted in 2013 with the 7″ EP No Trash. Reissue of long out of print girl band classic on white vinyl! British garage pop girl group, the Del Monas began life as the Milk-Boilers. If that moniker sounds suspiciously similar to that of the Billy Childish and Mickey Hampsire-led Milkshakes, it's no co-incidence: The trio got its start by singing backup on the lads' recordings (and dating the boys in the band). Sarah (who went with Mickey Hampshire), Hilary (with Russ Wilkins), and Louise (with Bruce Brand) took the lead on a rendition of the Beatles' "Boys" before striking out on their own with a couple of four-song EPs in 1984: Comin' Home Baby (popularized by Mel Torm) and Hello, We Love You (actually the Doors' "Hello, I Love You.") In both cases, the Milkshakes served as their backing band and Childish and Hampshire wrote most of the originals. For these EPs, the girls were re-christened the Del Monas (originally two words) by Bruce Brand. The name was inspired by various R&B song titles (eg:The Queen Bees, the Monas) and was finalised as The Del Monas after Bruce saw a record by the Del Capris in a shop window. The following year, the Delmonas released their first full-length recording, Dangerous Charms, which contained a new version of 'Comin' Home Baby', the remaining EP tracks, three outtakes, and five numbers from a radio broadcast (it was later re-released as with additional material from another BBC session from 1988). Interpersonal tensions resulted in a recording gap of several years and a revamped lineup for 1986's follow-up, Delmonas 5! Louise had since left the group and Hilary and Sarah had renamed themselves Miss Ida Red and Ludella Black. The new lineup cranked out a louder, harder-hitting sound for their next album "The Delmonas", released in 1989. It featured Dangerous Charms' lost title-track and a couple of earlier numbers redone in French. Do the Uncle Willy, released later the same year, was the band's final musical document. It compiled material from previous releases, a couple of alternate takes, and a new version of Thee Mighty Caesars' "Lie Detector." On all of their recordings, the Delmonas mixed cover versions from the '50s and '60s with original compositions that sounded as if they came from that era - upbeat ravers in the spirit of the Shangri-Las, Lesley Gore, Nancy Sinatra, and other tough-but-tender girl acts. If they didn't quite have the vocal range of those artists, they made up for it in attitude and enthusiasm. This spirit was carried over into the Headcoatees, which included Black and Holly Golightly (now Brand's main squeeze), Kyra Rubella, and Bongo Debbie. This new band would fulfill the same function: as backup to Thee Headcoats and as a band backed by them. In 2000, after both groups had called it quits, Black released her first solo album She's Out There (backed, not too surprisingly, by Hampshire and Brand, with whom she had begun her musical career). Ludella continues to play live and release records along with The Masonics (Who are Mickey Hampshire, Bruce Brand & John Gibbs). Her second solo album from This Witness Stand' was released on Damaged Goods in 2008. Fans of The Delmonas will be interested to learn that a new girl group - The Shall-I-Say-Quois - (featuring Ludella Black, ex-Headcoatee Kyra Rubella, and The Buff Medways'/MBEs' Nurse Julie), have recently released a 6 track 10" EP on Damaged Goods.
