Well if you're like me, you thought that the Mullens were one of the most real straight up late 70's punk inspired rock n roll bands that were around. They just got it when it came to playing this style of rock n roll. They just had that soul and feel, that many bands try and immitate, but just never really get there.
'Hallucination' is a perfect 11 song medley of swaggerific loud brash punk meets down-home, feel-good rock n roll! Just plop on 'Living to Die' for instance. Straight up dark and bleak dead boys type ripper here bridged with that Thunders-style riffage that just totally sticks. Now move onto the more upbeat 'Hallucination' and 'Rocking Horses'. Altough more bluesy and almost classic rock in nature,they still keep the head a bobbin' and the toes a tap pin'.
