My Friend the Murderer was recorded live at Headgap Studios in Preston, Melbourne during 2010 by engineer Brent 'Sloth' Punshon (Adalita/The Nation Blue) with Brodie's new band, Dan Brodie & the Grieving Widows featuring Brodie on guitar and vocals, Dave Nicholls (Ian Rilen/Spencer P.Jones) on drums and Chris Brodie (Broken Arrows) on bass and lapsteel. Played with a sparseness of instrumentation, Brodie has created a classic Australian rock n roll record, lyrically channelling the troubled obsessions of people whose love has turned into hate, with disastrous consequences for all.
